The world is being overwhelmed by a whirlwind of words. Text, text, text. So many opinions, so few answers. When you read citizens comments on the Internet, you discover the hidden anger and frustration. We are seeing the result of this anger in the daily headlines.
“Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].” Romans, 1:22 Amp. These words convict us, but if we are honest with ourselves, are they true?
Recently I read an article about the Pope’s visit to America. He was shown the above picture concerning the red-letter words from the Bible that were found in the aftermath of 911. They were fused to one of the steel beams from the twin towers. Is God warning us? In a small section of the picture there is a quote from the book of Matthew, the message is about building your foundation on the Rock, that shifting sands won’t survive the coming storms. (Matthew 7:26-27) Clearly you can see the word Love. Love conquers hate and anger. It is not all about an eye for an eye.
Am I just adding to the whirlwind of words? I personally have chosen to re-read the “Red Letter Words” in the Bible. Stated another way, the words that Jesus spoke.
First, the Bible makes an amazing claim. “In the beginning, before time, was The Word and The Word was with God, and The Word was God.” John 1:1 “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14 Both of these scriptures refer to Jesus the Christ.
Could it be that this “forever word” has the answers we are all seeking? He suggests that the answer is Love, not hate. Unity not division. Our chatter matters, words can hurt.
If you are frustrated and angry, I’m suggesting you stop and read all the red-letter words in the New Testament and review your thinking and your actions. Do I practice any of His suggestions to find rest and peace? Yes! His words are an amazing Contract/Covenant with humanity.
There are so many promises filled with blessings. I am suggesting that mankind’s dry arid souls need the promises of God. Life seems so empty without HOPE.
TRY IT, IT WONT HURT, Read or re-read His red-letter words. I’ll be praying that your soul and spirit will be comforted by God’s Words of Life.
“I have come a ‘Light Into The World’ so that whoever believes on me may not continue to live in darkness.”
For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (paraphrased)
